Killer Suits of the Day: Monsters of Folk on Conan

Hopefully everyone gathered around their television sets last night to watch the Monsters of Folk play their song on The Tonight Show" (OK, that sentence was only written so that I could say, "television set." It sounds so 1950's)

I'm pretty sure I've written about these Monsters before, but the band is a supergroup consisting of M. Ward, Conor Oberst, Jim James, and Mike Mogis.

Their album consequently just released this week as well and it's quickly creeping into my favorites of 2009. Go out and get it...

...NOW go out and get it...i knew that video would do the trick

Monsters of Folk Want You To Mind Your Manners

Do you know who the "Monsters of Folk" are?

If you happen to enjoy the music I post on this blog, I'm sure you're in on this newly created 'supergroup'. Though I haven't posted about them before, I've certainly mentioned each one of them individually.

...so what is it?

Jim James (a.k.a. Yim Yames, solo, My Morning Jacket), Conor Oberst (solo, Bright Eyes), M. Ward (solo, She & Him), and Mike Mogis (producer, instrumentalist)

Ladies and gentlemen, THEY are the "Monsters of Folk".

Simply put, this could be the biggest album release of 2009 (slated for 9/22/09)

At 10am this morning I got an email from their mailing list offering a free download of the track, "Say Please" off their upcoming debut.

All you have to do is...say, Please. Literally.

Head over to their site, and look on the right side for a text box and the text:

"IF YOU’D LIKE TO GET A FREE DOWNLOAD OF
“SAY PLEASE”, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SAY... "

Then just type in please, click the submit button, and viola! You are streaming the first sounds the band has so far publicly released. It's some great summertime stuff, so get at it immediately and don't forget...buy the album when it drops. It's one you'll want to physically own and not just 'steal' off the interweb.

Thank You
