Pearl Jam Start A Scavenger Hunt

By now I'm sure you've heard that Pearl Jam are back in a big way.

After re-releasing a deluxe edition of their 18 year old debut, "Ten" in March of this year, they quickly followed with even better news...their first new studio album since their 2006 self-titled release.

The new album, "Backspacer" is set to release September 22, 2009. Legions of die hard PJ fans have been anticipating the release since the band appeared on Conan's first week as host of The Tonight Show and debuted the cover art as well as the song, "Get Some".

Conan Appearance:

With the release date approaching the band has started a sort of online Easter Egg Hunt, without the religious connotations, of course.

Scattered around the web...with no specific websites given...are links to the 9 mini-images (drawn by political cartoonist Tom Tomorrow) that grace the full "Backspacer" cover. One image per website, so there are nine sites you have to figure out and click the image. Upon collecting all nine (clicking the 9 images on their respective website) you are presented with a freebie that Pearl Jam says is, "...better than the usual free live mp3 download".

I'll help you out and get you started, but its up to you to find the others!

Click the picture from this Wired.com article to get going!

Here's what the album art looks like in its entirety:

Personally, I think this is a great idea for the band to raise awareness for their album and keep their fans occupied and excited for the release! Have fun!

The Dodo's Announce Third LP, "Time To Die"

The big news in the indie world today is the announcement of a new Dodo's album titled, "Time To Die".

This will be the third full length and you can expect more of the duo's usual "punchy-percussion" indie rock, but this time you might find a surprise. They've got a new member who actually jams out on the vibraphone on the tracks. Listen for it amongst the rest of the beautiful noise the guys make.

For the uninformed, you can find a few tracks for their '08 release, "Visiter" below!

Man Dies of Stroke Waiting for Strokes

You might see that in your local newspaper headlines as...it's now June 2009 and still no news on the new Strokes album.

We know it coming from this little post on their MySpace at the end of March:

"After a long and much needed hibernation period that saw many of the band's various other musical projects emerge, we're pleased to announce that The Strokes are now all back hard at work in their NYC space on writing and rehearsing new material for a 4th full-length album. No recording studio time has been booked yet, as they sketch out the blue-prints of new songs and fine tune plans in their rehearsal space, but it will undoubtedly be all mapped out and etched in stone at some point in the not-too-distant future."

In the meantime, enjoy a live version one of the best songs ever written:
